Hello,

Any Apple certified techs here?

Anyway, I came home on Saturday, to find my 1 GHz 17" iMac locked up. The screen was black, and there was some looping sound. I had to power it off.

When I go to power it back on, the fan kicks on, and the startup chime sounds, but nothing else happens. The screen never comes on, and the machine doesn't boot.

I've tried unplugging all my external devices, I tested my keyboard and mouse to make sure they work properly, I tried zapping the PRAM, and I tried booting into open firmware, with no luck.

Now, I have case number from Apple, but the local repair shop is currently in transition from one Mac reseller to another, so it may be a few weeks before I can get this fixed. Does anyone have any ideas on anything else I can try (that won't void the warranty) until the new repair shop opens?
