First download this utility to determine if your G4 motherboard is compatible with a dual CPU card. If it's not, then the decision is made.
If you can take either upgrade, the GHz upgrade is probably the better one, unless you do huge multitasking all day - or if you get a real bargain on the dual 533.

Dual CPU from eBay - No warranty and sold "as is"
Single GHz CPU fro OWC - 3 yr warranty
Plus, there is no way in hell the Dual 533 can be faster than the single 1GHz

*Sigh*... If only there was a Quad 250MHz upgrade.
But yes, the single 1GHz would spank the Dualie in pretty much... everything.

the 1 GHz, in some SMP applications the 533 will be close to the 1 GHz but in any non SMP the 1 GHz will be much faster and in nothing it will be slower.
Daily i switch betwwen a dual 1.25 and a single 1.2 and it really feels the same. The main differences are the noicy fan on the dual and that it can run two distributed foldning clients!
