I placed an order at the apple online store on the 11th for a CTO dual G5 1.8. I wanted it with the 9600 Radeon but without the Superdrive. The order confirmation said the order would should ship on or before Dec 19. Then yesterday I received another email saying that there is unexpected supply delay and that my order may ship on or before Dec 30. I was hoping to get this rig before Christmas. I figured the CTO would take longer but I figured Apple would have accounted for increased holiday demand. So whats the chances this thing will ship before Dec 30? I hope it ships then or I'll be a very upset individual.

Unfortunitly it happens, especially for cto orders. My PB order was stock and was delayed. Ordering it on 12/11 and expecting a cto order before Christmas may be unrealistic however.

On the brightside apple does ship things before the the estimate so you still may get it.

Good Luck

I ordered my CTO DP1.8 on the 5th, and got it on the 13th... sounds like Apple's being bombarded during these last 2 weeks.
Be happy.

History folks.

Apple always ties up orders right before announcing new models. MacWorld is less than 2 weeks away, and rumor has it that they will announce new models of G5 and iMac. They did the same thing to folks trying to order PowerBooks just before they announced new upgrades.

History repeats itself.

Perhaps you should wait to see what is announced.

Yeah, and how long between the time the G5's were announced and the time you could get one? Say, June 30th to Setember 30th... 3 months or so?

Heh.
