Hi

I have a 120g Western Digital Hard drive to add to my 733mz Quicksilver Power Mac.
My question lies not with my new hard drive, but with the OEM Hard Drive.
It is a 40g 54000rpm IBM Ultra ATA.
Device Model: IBM-DTLA-305040
Device Serial: YJEYJ266619
Device Revision: TW4FA60A
I want to set up the new WD hard drive as master & the OEM IBM hard drive as slave.
Has anyone come across a similar configuration before and remembers the jumper settings they used for the slave drive?

Seasons Greetings

Daryl

well, the jumper setting are obvious: set the one you want as slave to slave, and the master to master!

of course, the jumper settings will vary from manufacturer. the WD should have the settings printed on the drive label, and for the ibm, check out this link , download the pdf, and find your drive number. it's most likely in the deskstar family.

If you haven't already, check the drive. My IBM OEM Drive--and the store bought one too--have the diagram right on the drive.

It's most likely the 3 and 4 spots. It'll take 2 jumper blocks to fill them. Jumper them vertically.

It makes no difference which drive is set to what, other than for Target Disk Mode -- only the Master drive will be put onto the FW bus.
