Picked up a stick of ram for my 1GHZ MDD, after sticking the ram in, I found the machine will not see it. Compared the specs off the ram I had in it and the only thing different is that my new stick is ECC.. Can I assume my machine does not like ECC?

As the manual for your G4, and the Apple website, will tell you, it can't take ECC RAM.

Just regular unbuffered, non-error-correcting RAM.
