Long story short... I turned my G4 DP1ghz in for a bad firewire port... four weeks, two different repair shops, three logic boards, three processors, new RAM, power supply and one front panel later it's back. Seems to work, but I'm getting trails when I move my mouse or drag windows. Feels like the redraw is slow. I checked and saw that my graphics card is unchanged (or at least the model's the same). What might be causing this? Any thoughts?

Trails are normally a monitor issue, for a CRT with slow phosphors or older LCD panels that didn't switch pixels fast enough. You can try switching to a higher refresh rate if this is a CRT.

Pull in Quartz Extreme Check to make sure you have hardware Quartz acceleration - a damaged system config file could have turned that off.

Turning down your monitor brightness on CRTs will reduce the effect - if it's slow phosphors.

Thanks for the responses. Should've mentioned that I'm running it on a 23" cinema display. I've been working with my PowerBook AL 15" while the G4's been in the shop, so perhaps I've become used to that screen and there's nothing really wrong. But, I dunno... seems very streaky.

Quartz Extreme is working and I haven't smoked in quite a while...
