Went to the AppleStore in Old Orchard (Skokie, IL), and they had a store demo 1.8Ghz G5 for sale for $1799 (originally $2199). 512RAM, 160GB drive, etc, etc.... My mom wanted it for various family projects, so she bought it (at my brother's advice)

Damn the luck... Turns out that the Apple Store forgot to take out that extra 512 MB of RAM they stick in the demo machines. She's now got a total of 1GB for the price of 512.

I hate it when Apple makes those damn mistakes.

ewwww.... I'm tellin.

Funny, Old Orchard is my local store too. A little smaller than Schaumburg and a lot less pushy. Michigan Ave., forget it... it's just a pain in the butt to get there.

I had a great conversation with an employee Chris this past weekend. We must have chatted about alma maters, DV, Apple, etc. for about an hour.

That's why I like Old Orchard more than the others.

I live about 10 minutes away from the Old Orchard store. All I know is that the sales people don't know anything. I work as a senior mac tech at a large university. The sales folks there didn't have basic grasps of OS X.

I just finished up working at the apple storre at old orchard. The folks there do know what they are talking about. The problem is we have to deal with customers that don't even know how to double click a mouse. Do that all day and by the end of the day you would be tired too. I have tons of experiance in film and video but there are some subjects i don't know about. I would refer that person to someone that would know. Everyone that works there has their own field of knowledge. Another thing is that they pay $9.00/ hour with no commision. So to all the apple techs out there that complain about the people there , would u work for 9.00/ hour......of course not. You would take your knowledge elsewhere for more money. That's what I did.

What is the million dollar club, and what do u get for making it? I assume it's a sales award? I have a hard time believing a sales associate has done 1MM. Maybe in NYC or Tokyo... but...
