hello all! i have a g4, running 9.2.2, and my cursor keeps freezing up when i move it. it seems that it started out lightly a few months back, when i would move it around it would freeze momentarily and i'd get that little activity circle flashing in the top left corner of the screen. i can hear my drive working for a second, and then it stops and i can move it again. it would happen now and again, but it started getting worse and worse, until it finally was happening almost every time i moved it, sometimes freezing up completely so i had to restart the computer. then suddenly it got completely better again, when i rebooted and heard this tiny beep inside the computer. it stayed perfect until it started slowly happening again. does anyone know what i'm talking about? it sounds strange to me, but i swear, after that little beep, it worked great again. any help would be greatly appreciated, as i am now back to the darned thing freezing up every ten seconds again. thanks so much.

Check your Energy Saver control panel, you may have a few options turned on that make the system less responsive. Also unplug and replug your mouse. But my first guess would be that the mouse is dying - possibly from it's cord going bad.

Do you have another mouse to substitute for a few days?

Is your hard disk close to full?

The system might need some disk space, for example for virtual memory, or caching stuff.

Restarting purges some caches, so things might get better because of that.

Just guessing,
