OK, I searched first, but didn't come up with anything specific to my problem...

I have an Orig Cube, 450/DVD. Stock Rage 128, with ADC and VGA connections.

I have (just new) a Panasonic AE-300 LCD projector. It has DVI connectivity, among others. In fact, it's hooked up to my Cube right now via Belkin's ADC-DVI adapter. Works great, looks great...except it only gives me 4:3 resolutions (640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768). The LCD projector is a native 16:9 projector, if I put it in that aspect ratio and start the Cube I still only get 4:3 resolutions. Thing is, using a VGA cable, I get widescreen resolutions, like 1280x720, etc. But no dice via DVI. Problem is, I didn't buy a nice LCD projector w/ DVI-D input to use a VGA cable.

I tried using SwitchRes, but discovered the program is so ridiculously unituitive I thought I was using Windows. It couldn't get it to work in any case.

So...does anyone have any suggestions? Is the vid card just not going to cut it? If not, what card (Cube-compatible, obviously) can I use to support 1280x768 over DVI (which the projector supports; it's in the manual with refresh rates and everything). I really want to migrate to my Cube as my DVD player, but without widescreen support it's not happening yet.

I appreciate any help or comments. Thanks in advance!

I'd dig around ATI FAQs and google too.

Hmm...I find several reviews of the 7000 noting that it gives "loads of resolutions" when plugged in. I'll do some looking as well.

edit:

from ati.com:

Q17:
Does the RADEON™ 7000 support monitors with a 16:9 aspect ratio?

A17:
Yes, including 1920 x 1080 and 848 x 480 on Windows® 98/98SE, Windows® Me, Windows® 2000 and Windows® XP. The complete list of resolutions depends on the driver version and operating system. Please note that resolutions are limited by the performance of the attached monitor.
Bought. Keeping fingers crossed.
