Please someone help me, i cant seem to burn a DVD+RW on my iMac 1Ghz.

My drive model is,

Manufacturer: SONY
Model: SONY DVD RW DW-U10A
Revision: A13b

I have tried a few cheap DVD+RW discs and also bought some TDK discs today but have had no luck with either iDVD, Disc Copy or Toast 6.

Someone please help me out here, is there a firmware update availabe?

Not entirely sure here... but I think you need DVD-R media, not DVD+RW media.

The Apple firmware disables DVD+RW support.

You're SOL unless you flash the drive.

Sorry.

This may not help, but have you attempted to "fake out" your Mac? Try this....

Attempt to burn a DVD with a "normal" DVD-R in the drive. The Mac will go off and think about it for awhile. While the Mac is thinking, press the eject button for the drive, and switch in a DVD-RW. My bet is that the Mac will go ahead and burn this disk. This has worked on my eMac, burning from iDVD.

If you are attempting to just back up some data, or something where there is no calculations required before the burn starts, this may not work. Good luck.

Oops, I just re-read your post. I missed that you were attempting to use DVD+RW media. My comments will only work with DVD-RW media.

Sorry...I wasn't very helpful.
