I have had this problem since I first got my G4 but since I don't watch movies on it I didn't want to deal with Apple tech support...

If I play a DVD it will be fine for a few minutes and then the image will become totally jumbled with little yellow dashes running horizontally across the screen.

The problem will persist until I restart my computer. I have done clean installs and I am now running Panther but I still have the problem. I am not sure if it is a Superdrive issue or a video card issue. I have burned CDs and DVDs and they turned out OK. It is just the playback I have issues with - so I would guess it is the video card. But I have never had a problem with games - only the DVD player.

Apple is willing to take a look at it but I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem.

Mine plays DVDs just fine. You might have a bad drive or bad ram.
