I just bought a 60 gb HD for my beige G3. In trying to install OS X, I am able to partition the drive, but when I try and install the OS on the first 8 gb, I am not able to select a destination disk. There is a red octagon with a exclamation mark inside & it says cannot select because it isn't within the first 8 gb of the destination disk. Please help

I'd try re-formating and creating an OS X partition that is even smaller, such as 7GBs. Couldn't hurt.

You are definately going to NEED XPostFacto or you will run into some serious problems when trying to run OS X.

I've had good luck installing OS X on several Beige G3's. Never had to use XpostFacto, although there were a couple times normal installation would stall out and I had to reinstall.

I havent had to use XPostFacto either. Make sure the drives are set to Master/Slave. When the Beige G3 first shipped, they, at least mine, was set to cable select... Works fine in 9 but not X.

I actually found some info on the web about pulling all but 256k of RAM when loading OS X. Seems many folks have had similar problems. Don't shoot the messenger, but it worked flawlessly for me. After install, I put back in the other 2 sticks of RAM without issue. Thanks for all of your hints. Have a great day
