I have a Power Mac G4 500 (Sawtooth model). The Power Mac G4 500 came with a 27 Gig Hard disk (not very big these days). I currently have my disk partitioned into three volumes. Is there any way to erase the first partition and add that space to the second partition?

Unfortunately, not that I know of. The only way is to complete re-format and re-partition from that start. If I'm wrong please correct me.

In the windows/linux world there is a program called partition magic. Personally I haven't heard of a mac version of it or a competitor but for the price of partition magic (or competitor of), you could get yourself a decent hard drive and use Carbon Copy Cloner to transfer your whole disc over.

I hope that helps.

added: carbon copy cloner is free. It could also work if you have a friend with a spare hdd you can create a disc image of the whole partitions you are trying to keep intact copy the image over to his machine or hdd, format your drive, and use ccc to apply the image to the newly formatted partitions.

You can also do it with the Disk Manager feature, built directly into the Admin tools of XP...
