Slow, but only if you still have the stock video card in it. I own a dual 450 and once I replaced the old Rage 128 with a Radeon, I immediately saw a huge improvement. You also need plenty of RAM, at least 512 MB.

I find it plenty fast. In fact, it feels faster than my 800 MHz iBook G3 did.

It isn't terribly slow. I would compare it to a 500Mhz PC running XP. The dual450 feels faster than my Ghz Powerbook.
Is it not reasonable to anticipate that our understanding of the human mind would be aided greatly by knowing the purpose for which it was designed?

I'm running a single 450 (sawtooth) at home... 1.5 gigs RAM, GeForce4MX, two big 7200 rpm drives, Panther... and while I can tell it's not the snappiest thing on the planet, it's perfectly usable.

The time line in GarageBand tends to lag behind the sound output, and I get the spinning rainbow sometimes when I switch between big programs with billions of windows open (e.g., GarageBand -> Photoshop with 10 photos open), but other than that I can't really complain.

Since Panther came out, it feels just about as fast as my identical (minus the GeForce4MX) OS 9 machine at work.

cool! Thanks!

So I might give some VRAM to OSX and it will run just fine as it has 600+ Megs of RAM.

Thanks again for posting!

I remember when I ran 10.1 on a Dual 450...

I thought it was the fastest thing in the world...

Of course that was about 2 years ago.
