Mac OS Rumors is reporting that there may be a 20" G5 iMac on the way to be sold as a 20th Anniversary iMac. I, for one, am taking this report with a bucket of salt, but it would definately be cool to see.

Imagine this...

Take the current 20" iMac and bump it up to a 1.6GHz G5, 512MB RAM, and a 160GB disk. Add the Bluetooth option and ship it with a wireless keyboard and mouse.

...and change the color scheme to from white & silver to black & silver.

These would be limited eddition, and sell at a premium. I'd say conservatively $2499 at least.

I believe the expression is grain of salt.

I don't like your color schemes, I think it should go aluminum case and ditch the whole selling at a premium thing, Apple needs this machine now at a competative price. If Apple wants to do some special build it'll have to do better than that. I don't think we are going to see a special addition, Apple really should just do a massive release of new products. But, if they do do an edition thing it can't be something that'll be available in 6 months.

First, don't ever take MOSR with ANY grains of salt not matter how small. Second, you can't ship a computer with a wireless keyboard. The keyboard needs to be configured to the machine therefor it needs a wired keyboard to do it. To have a wireless keyboard ship with the machine would mean Apple would have to do all the configuring and I really don't see them doing that. Third, Black & Silver was done a few years ago by the PeeCee industry (and Apple Powerbooks) I don't see Apple going back to that.

Other than all of that I'd like to see a G5 iMac released Saturday!

Normally yes, but sometimes you need ALOT of salt to cover up the taste of these rumors.
