I plan on getting a SP 1.6 G5 as soon as my tax return arrives(hopefully any day now) and I'm wondering if I should stick with the GeForce 5200 ultra included with the unit or spring for the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro. I know it's only $45 more(educational discount), but I am following a budget so I don't want to spend the extra money if I don't need it.
I basically plan to use the machine for web surfing, programming, music(AAC), store my digital photos, and an occasional game(Warcraft 3). Maybe in the future I might get halo, but it will be awhile before I get it. Basically, how do the 5200 ultra and the Radeon 9600 compare to each other? Thanks in advance.

If you want to play any games, I would suggest getting the ati 9600. Makes for a better gaming experience than the 5200 will. Would be nice to have someones opinion that has had both. Hope this helps

I thought that apple would actually update the G5's today seeing as it is the first business day after the actual anniversary of the mac. Somebody else mentioned tomorrow too. Is there some significance to tomorrow's date? Still, as long as they update before thursday or friday I'll be okay as my return probably won't come in until then.

The 5200 is crap in comparison.

And yeah, new speeds should be in the channel soon... (if you can wait).
