I have a G4 450 (sawtooth). If I wanted to put a faster motherboad/processor in the case, what's the fastest board from apple (or other) that I can fit.

I would be looking for a complete motherboard/processor combination that can be bought from a dealer rather than just a new processor.

Thanks,

J.

Motherboard: Sawtooth
CPU: single or dual G4 1.4 from a 3rd party.

Apple has been changing the rear port arrangement around with each motherboard, and actually uses the port arrangement as a way to identify the model. Any other motherboard will require a case mod project, and possibly a different power supply.

Some Sawtooths can accept a dual CPU upgrade, earlier ones cannot. Use UniNorthASICChecker to see if your model can take a dual.

Here is a good page for available CPU upgrades.

you can stick a Digital Audio mobo in there, but like reader said, you'll have to cut some holes in the back of your case...

...or buy a DA rear panel.

This will bump you up to a 133MHz system bus, but you'll still be stuck with regular non-ddr SDRAM
