My beige G3/233 minitower doesn't read any of my burned CD-Rs but will read retail CDs fine. This happens on both the AppleCD 24x drive that came with it and the Apple 6x DVD drive that I've tried with it, on both master and slave settings on both IDE channels. I somehow suspect that these drives may have trouble reading 80min/700mb CD-Rs but I have nothing to back this up. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening, and what I can do about it?

First try a different CD media, and if thats no go, then try burning your discs at a slow 2X.

A beige G3 is from 1997... any drive that old is liable to have trouble reading discs, and CD-Rs are a lot harder to read than pressed CDs, which is why they'll be the first to go.

Try a different (newer) drive.
