Short synopsis:

Jan 14 emac dies and goes to shop

first they say its the Northern hemsiphere assembly that has to be replaced so they get the part and say the part's bad so I have to wait another 4 days. The second part fails so they then say its the logic board and that takes another 5 days to get. I finally get it back On the 23 Jan and its fine. During the time it was out I spent over $300 in rental fees! But luckily I do have Apple Care so I dont have to pay to get it fixed. But tonight, about 1/2 hour ago the bottom half of the screen lited up where there was nothing but 3-4 inches of black at the bottom and no way to see the top half so I could click on the little blue apple to shut it down. So I used the power button and shut it off for a few minutes.

But Its probably going to have to go into the shop again! When the Noorthern Hemisphere went it was acting weird where the top bar was blacking out for a few days before it finally went black. I have a business on ebay where I sell my own art so having a computer is critical and I just dont have the cash to rent another one! I think what's going on here is that I got a lemon! I bought this emac in Sept of 2002 so its not that old. I dont post on forums often, but does anyone know here what the best thing I can do besides bringing it in for repair? Do I have a chance of asking them for a new one? Im going to go now and back up some of my important stuff but I cant possibly live without a computer again for any length of time. Is there a way to go about getting them to let me use a replacement computer while mine gets fixed without having to pay $250 a week? Anyone have any experience with repairs where I can get them to put a rush on it? I'll check back on the forum, hopefully this seeems to be an active board and someone will have some ideas for me. I appreciate any input. Obviously Im not very technical!

Pamela
