Hi!

During the warmer weather (down here in Australia) I have noticed that, after 2 to 3 hours of being left turned on (playing music in iTunes etc), my computer shuts its self down. It has always started back up again OK, so far. This has happenned several times now.
Just recently I added a Western Digital Caviar SE 8mb cache 7200rpm 120gb hard drive.
I am guessing that the problem has something to do with over-heating, as I don't seem to have this problem on cool days.
I don't have any airconditioning to control the temperature. The computer's fans appear to be working OK. Could my new hard drive be providing extra heat over a period of several hous use? Do Power Macs automatically shut themselves down when their internal temperature reaches a certain point.
Alternatively, I have heard that Quicksilver Power Mac power supplies can be problematic.
Has any one either experienced this, or have any ideas?

Thanks

it does sound like an overheating issue, if you have any fans around place them by the computer to at least circulate more air. also, is the computer in a cabinet of any sort that would restrict airflow?
