Well.. After waiting around for Apple to do SOMETHING (similar to the 15 inch powerbook updates last year...creepy.) I went ahead and ordered a Refurb Dual 2.0. ( www.smalldog.com has them)
I was watching the Apple refurb section but they were sold out for the last week. However, Smalldog is expecting a shipment next Tuesday (13 machines.)
This gives me the best of both worlds. If Apple updates within the next week, I can still cancel and get the new midrange..if not, I'm on to top of the line bliss (may be short lived but oh well...)

Let me guess, you bought it when you needed it right? Smart move. Maybe now Apple will update the G5's tomorrow?

Most likely not tomorrow but next tuesday when this ships
Needed it? depends on your definition of need....
Oh well it was cheaper then the mid range and hopefully the NEW midrange won't beat the hell out of it
The next top of the line was never in my budget..

What's smalldogs return policy on LCD displays? I'm tempted to buy a G5 and a Cinema Display but am worried about dead pixels. Will they check the monitor before shipment?
Also what's their policy on new buyers? I can buy from their refurb section right?
thanks

You can buy from their refurb section. As far as monitors go, I'm not sure. The computer comes with the same standard Apple protection plan so I'm assuming if something is wrong you contact Apple directly.

"Small Dog is prepared to help you obtain warranty service in the unlikely event you run into any difficulties. HOWEVER, WE DO NOT OFFER ANY SEPARATE OR ADDITIONAL WARRANTY OTHER THAN THE LIMITED, EXPRESS WARRANTY, IF ANY, OFFERED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
In the case of Apple Computer, the manufacturer offers a 1-year warranty on all new equipment and on all factory refurbished equipment. During the warranty period, you may call 800-275-2273 to receive warranty or replacement service. Apple will attempt to solve your problem over the phone. If they are unable to solve the problem, they will either dispatch a replacement via Airborne Express or will direct you to the closest Apple service center. In most cases, contacting the 800 number is the most expedient manner to obtain warranty service on Apple equipment."

Never knew that about Apple's return policy. Haven't had a chance to buy anything from them yet... It is good to know though!
