Thanks in advance!

Just recently transferred an hd with Panther from a MDD G4 to a B&W G4. The drive is working flawlessly (so far) except with one caveat. All the hds are appearing as external drives (all the hd are connected to PCI IDE controllers). They appear on the desktop and changing the Finder preferences for hds doesn't affect the drives, but changing the options for cd/dvd, ipods and external devices do. Even in the Finder sidebar, if I check the options for hds, they do appear but as ejectable devices. ASProfile lists them properly as non-ejectable, but Disk Utility labels them as External (but non-ejectable).

Is this a Finder or Panther bug? This is not an issue wit Jaguar (although all the drives were formatted by Jaguar). Do I have to reformat the drives in Panther (kind of a hassle as a most of them are 75% full and transferring everything to another HD is not an option as of the moment).

Or reinstalling Panther from scratch is the only solution?

Thanks again

I have all of my hard drives appear as ejectable except the main drive with Mac OS X.3.2. I believe that this is a bug in panther and thought it would have been fixed in the first update but that didn't happen. I have a siig ATA133 PCI card in my machine. After installing 10.3 I noticed that I have to restart a few times to get all the drives to appear. This doesn't happen all the time just occasionally and I have tried different cords and still the same. I have three drives in my G4 450 a quantum and two maxtor drives. I don't think I really helped much but your not alone with this issue.
