52 Watts (typical) at 2.5 GHz (90 nm), which means the G5 Power Mac's cooling is perfectly suited to it, since the power dissipation numbers are similar to the previous 130 nm G5 chips in the currently shipping Power Macs.

I don't understand it either, but the point is that they give us specs for a 2.5 GHz G5. I have never seen those specs anywhere else, even on IBM's website.

However, the article is a preview to a meeting next week where IBM will be presenting details on the G5 PPC 970FX. ie. It seems they got the numbers straight from the horses mouth, not speculation.

This will mean we should expectdual Power Macs at around 2.5 GHz (and not 3 GHz any time soon), which is what we expected anyway, but at least now we have some confirmation (and we will see further confirmation next week).

Ok, when is that meeting next week? Maybe Apple is giving IBM the first chance to tell everyone about the chip and then they will announce new PowerMacs?
