I am old newbie. Think about it.
In my stumbling and fumbleing I have so much duplication and so many things where they don't belong that virtually nothing works. If possible I would like to eleminate everything in this little grey box and start over. I do not have anything that I could not replace on the computer.
Is it possible to start with a blank slate and then install a new OS. I am running 9.2.2 on an iMac special edition.
I read someones post re use of sledge hammer on hd. I am about to the point of using one on the box.
Thanks in advance. Write slowly, I'm from Arkansas.

Sounds like you're ready to kill someone. Are you interested in keeping any files on the computer in question? If so, back those up onto removeable media and simply reitialize the main HD. You can do this by booting with a CD (hold down C while rebooting with a OS 9 system disk). I forget exactly but I believe it's HD Setup, it's a disk utility in the control panel, I think. I apologize for the incoherence of this response, but I'm going mainly from memory since I'm not at my Mac. Besides, I haven't had to reinitialize my HD in over 2 years. Once you reinitialize you can reinstall the OS.

Hope this helps.
