Hello,

I'm ready to start messing with iMovie and iDVD on my new G5. First, do any of you have any preferences on which brand of DVD media to buy? I don't need a 100 pack, but still, any good/bad suggestions would be great. Also, if I read the manual right (yes, the manual!), I need to use DVD-R media, right? My friend just bought a new HP box, and he needs DVD+R media. What's the difference? Is it purely a Mac v Windows thing? Thanks.

They are just two different standards. Some Windows machines do use -r. As far as media goes I have had great luck using Ritek DVDs. Meritline.com has the best prices I have found.

For yourself, get Apple DVD-R if reliability is a concern.

And check my sig for general info about the formats.

Just make sure that if it is for a G5 that you buy 4x-compatible media. Otherwise you may have to burn at 2x to prevent errors.
