I'm looking to buy a new G5 from edu store without a superdrive/modem (bringing price to 1399) but I'm worried that it won't include iDVD if I do this. Can anyone confirm whether it does or not?

have a look at Apple's iLife 04 page - a superdrive is *not* a requirement to install iDVD. Then look at the Powermac Specs page and see what software is listed. You'll get iDVD....and if for reason it is not installed, it will be on the restore disks and you can get it off them. and if that is not enough, Apple states that all new mac's ship with iLife 04 (not ilife without idvd, or without garageband...)
