Hello everyone, my first post and my first MAC! 2 Weeks ago my Hard drive blew up, it was an old IBM Deathstar so I knew its days were numbered anyway, but rather then conntinue down the bottomless pit of PC upgrades, Modding, overclocking, benchmarking, blah blah, I decided to switch. I had been using Linux 100% after dumping the crap that is called Windows awhile back, but Linux just was not enough.

Here is my new baby the first day I switched it on. 17" iMac G4 1.25Ghz

Well I am completely happy, no errors, no random OS restarts, no problems, no nothing! My wife was so impressed with it after a week that she told me she will be getting one next as well, lol. YES, she wanted to dump windows. Well as if fate were listening her Monitor caught fire (yes literally) and got thrown into the trash, well that was her last straw...we went last weekend and got her a G4 933Mhz iBook complete with iCurve, Airport Extreme, and Office v.X Student edition and she is so so so happy with it, and I must admit, I am jealous of her portableness. We will both be upgrading the memory on these ASAP as well, need more then 256MB!

Anyway cheers and I will be around every day. Nice to meet all of you!

Congrats and welcome to the forums. If you've been using Linux, OS X's stability may not impress you too much. But the juicy-GUI-goodness-everything-works-with-minimal-fuss will.

The ZERO CONFIG has already won me over, Linux worked well but only after you went through hell getting it all setup. I love my Mac, no hassles, everything works, the iApps are amazing, and it does everything I need it to do, except fit in my pocket when im out!
