I recently installed a NVidia GF4 Ti card I purchased through ebay. I noticed the GeForce 4MX that I took out didnt have a fan, but the Ti did. So I knew it would be somewhat louder, but at startup and waking it from sleep I can really hear the fan.

Its not really really loud but it is noticeable. When I start the computer or wake it from sleep it makes more noise as if the fan is having a hard time going around. Once it warms up however the sound dissipates to the normal computer vaccuum sound that a quicksilver makes.

Has anyone else had this happen? Is this normal for the Ti card to sound louder at startup and at waking from sleep?

Gets even louder when you put a second hard drive in there.

Great card, though. It made a huge difference in gaming performance on my G4/867.

They often do that, especially as they get older. Chipset fans in PC's are infamous for doing it.

I put my machine on the floor underneath the desk to deflect the noise a little. That might help, if you haven't already done it.
