I am looking to install an internal memory card reader in my MDD G4. I know GeeThree makes a Mac specific one called the "SWEET", but it is $100. This one sais it is Mac compatable, but it requires connection directly to the motherboard.
Does anyone know if this is indeed Mac compatable, and if so, are there connections on the motherboard for this type of installation??
Thanks in advance for your help.

Looks to me like you just need an internal USB or Firewire connection to hook up the module.

Having just put a second optical drive in a MDD, I would say that this would not fit unless you were willing the serious modify the front panal of the computer (take off one of the mirrored doors, and cut out the rounded corners).
As to connecting it up, some old mac models had internal firewire connections (blue and white G3?) but since then I don't remember seeing any. And I don't ever recall seeing internal USB ports in a Mac. I didn't notice on that page if it said which connection (firewire or USB) that the device uses for the card reader functionality.

Don't see why you would like to go for internal rather than external for memory card reader (you might have a very good reason that I cannot see). I would have thought you might want an external USB one (especially if you use to transfer digital camera photos while you are away from your home base for extended periods).
Most of the internal memory card reader used in PC world uses USB for connection (Many PC motherboard or PCI USB card had an internal port which allows that sort of connection.
US$100 for a flash reader is quite expensive... you can quite a fair few external USB 2.0 ones for ~US$25. Go to Froogle and type "USB flash reader" as the keyword and do a search to find it out.

I really want to reduce the clutter of cords and such from around my desk. The internal option also has USB and Firewire ports in the front. This makes hooking up my DVC much easier, since my Mac is on the floor under my desk. Going with the PC internal option, it is only about $25 too.
Thanks for the advice though.
