What would happen to my LCD if I continued to use bright images (i.e. wallpaper with a lot of white in it)? Would that contribute to damaging or shortening the life of the backlight? I just bought a new 15" and I am a little scared of the discussions in this thread. I do have the extended apple care plan but I still don't want to take any chances...

Thanks for your time and for all the good advice!

Can't say I blame you. I've noticed that some people would rather flame a person than offer good suggestions. Not everyone here is like that. Welcome to the discussions
