I'm curious on what everyone thinks about how much and when there'll be an Xserve G5 speed bump. Here are the facts I'm wrestling with:

1) PowerMac in desparate need of a speed bump
2) PowerMac has current memory promotion.
3) Xserve G5 has current memory promotion.
4) Xserve G5 has just begun shipping.


I can't imagine a speed bump on the Xserve in the immediate future since the 2 GHz models have just begun shipping. However, it is under a current promotion. Is this just to get the price closer to intel products until a speed update is released later this year?

Since both the Xserve and PowerMac are under the same promotion, does that mean speed bumps for both machines will happen close together?

With the Xserve just shipping, and the same memory promotion, does this mean both Xserve and Powermac will wait until later this year for a speed bump?

If so, any guesses on when?

Ow come on, they literally started shipping the computer and you are asking when a speed bump is coming. First of all nobody knows when speed bumps ok. Apple as you may have noticed keeps that info pretty tight. Secondly they just released the freakin computer.

I'm not saying they should already be giving the Xserve a speed-bump. Rather, I find it interesting that they are already including it in a discount promotion... Then speculation kicks in...
