I have an iMac DVSE I'm trying to restore to its original condition for sale. For some reason it won't read the original (orange) software restore CD. It reads music CDs just fine and will even read and start up from a 9.2.2 install disk. It just spits out the orange disk after trying to read it for a minute or so. There doesn't appear to be even the slightest scratch on the disc. Any ideas?
I remember having the same problem with my restore disc too. If I recall I tried making a copy of the restore disc and used the copy. I haven't had to restore my old lime DV for a few years so I don't remember if it worked or not. I do remember calling Apple and asking them to send replacement CD's, to which they did. They actually sent me the Spanish version of the OS and then later on sent the English version. Try copying the original CD and see if that helps.

Thanks for the responses. I'm sure it's the right disc. It says "software restore for iMac DV models." I finally decided to restore from a newer Mac OS 9.1 disc I had and gave that to the new owner. Didn't get a chance to try making a copy of the orange disc to see if the copy would work. I wonder if having upgraded the firmware in the iMac has anything to do with it.
