Ok, I just picked up a refurb Dual 1.8 which I plan to hold on to unless the new machines come out this Tuesday. Because I couldn't customize it it has the 5200 FX Ultra in it. I also have a GForce3 Apple OEM lying around. I only need to drive one monitor with the card I choose to use and was wondering if which one is faster. I tried to look around the nVidia and apple sites to see how they compare, but I can't figure it out for the life of me. Does the fact that the 5200 supports 8x AGP make this a no-brainer?
Thanks in advance.

Just try the GeForce 3 and see which is faster for you.
However, I believe the GeForce 3 is a bit better than the GeForce FX5200. From what I've heard, the FX5200 is just a prettied-up GeForce 4MX, which is definitely slower than the GeForce 3. I'd say you could compare the FX5200 to a Radeon 9000, and the GeForce 3 to a Radeon 8500. Not a huge performance increase, but still faster.
Just a disclaimer... I have not actually compared the cards side by side. This is all based on information I have heard from various people and other sources. I'd suggest trying both in various games and seeing which is better overall. Also keep in mind that the OEM GeForce 3 can fetch QUITE a nice price on eBay. Since it's the fastest Cube-compatible card, some Cube owners will spend upwards of $300 for one. If you can sell it for $300, you'd be able to afford even a Radeon 9800!

The GF 3 is probably the best choice, but I agree that you should try both options out and see what works best.
I have a G5 1.6 with a GF 5200 and it really isn't much better than the GF 4 MX except from a few things such as pixel shader support, but it's my guess that the overall performance of the GF 3 will be better than the 5200.

Thanks for the info. I love those cube addicts and am glad I haven't caught the bug. I'll plop the GeForce3 into my new G5 before I pass my trusty Dual 533 to my brother. I'll ebay the card and upgrade soon thereafter.
Thanks again for the tips.

I'm tempted now to sell the OEM Geforce3 I have and use the money to buy a ATI 9800... I would take a little cash hit, but when I sell the DP800 and tradeup to a G5 or G6 it would help boost the quicksilver's resale value.....
