I bought a maxtor hard drive for an old G4 Gigabit powermac.
Inside there was a plug in that I lugged into the mac second hard drive and layed the new harddrive ontop of the older one. there are other slots on the new hard drive that look like something goes in them, but Inside the mac there are no oth plug in cords to plu into it.

Please help. allso it needs screws to stay in place but there are none present.

If you want to be tricky, install a 3rd drive where the space for the ZIP drive is (probably only exists on Sawtooth cases).

Your optical drive needs to be set to Master, new drive to Slave. Then just boot up and format as usual. Or at least that's all I did, and it worked right off the bat.

EDIT: It also depends on what kind of machine you're using, what is it?
