I have a dual-1 Ghz QS with 1.5g of RAM. It still has the OEM video card: GeForce 4mx with 64 MB.
Is there a upgrade available for the video card that would give me a signficant performance boost with gaming? I'm thinking UT2004 and (one day) Doom 3.
I am aware that there are newer video cards out there, I just wonder which would be the best fit for the limited pipeline in my machine.

I have a single-cpu G4/867. I upgraded its stock GeForce 2MX to a GeForce 4Ti, and it made a *huge* difference in graphics responsiveness across the board, games included. So I'd suggest that card at a minimum.

I have a Dual Gig QS as well and I have upgraded to a Geforce4 TI. It is an excellent card, though I believe the ATI 9800 is faster.

Thanks for replying.
I see that the ATI 9800 is available as a "retail edition" card. Are the drivers automatically included in 10.3?
Also, can anyone tell me if I would be able to take advantage of an appreciable amount of the power of the card, given the pipeline in the Quicksilver Powermac line?

Yes, and yes. Since there are so few OS X-supported video cards, drivers for all of them are included in OS X. The only possible driver issue you could have is with a card that does more than just provide video - for example, a video capture card or a TV tuner card. But unlike PCs, which have a million and a half different types of video cards, Macs can recognize any Mac-compatible card out of the box. There are very few exceptions.
And, your dual 1 GHz is a very powerful machine. A Radeon 9800 (fastest Mac card available) will be an excellent match for it.
