Do you plan on running the cables out the back? There's no way to install ATA drives in a G5.

It looks like the SIIG card is the same hardware as the Sonnet- both from Acard. So they should work in a G5.
If you have a single proc. G5, there is plenty of room under the processor heatsink for extra drives. You will have to run ATA and power cables down the case. There is enough room for the round ATA cables. The power can be taken by Y-splitter from the optical drive's power cable.

You'd be better off buying a FireWire 400/800 external enclosure.

It is possible to add up to 5 ATA drives inside a G5 case.
The Swift Data 200 kit adds three drives. barefeats review
The G5Jam kit adds two drives. barefeats review
The two kits do not conflict with each other, so you can get up to 2 SATA drives in the factory positions and up to 5 more drives, in your choice of SATA or standard parallel ATA.

This is the reason I asked: http://www.chisenski.com/PhotoAlbum25.html
And it didn't set me back $300-$500 like the other solutions mentioned in this thread.
FYI, the SIIG controller (which is cheaper then the Sonnet) works just fine in the G5 (Dual 1.8GHz).
