I found a great deal on an open box item online. I just need to be sure that it is compatible with my computer before I buy. There's only one in stock, so I need assurance quickly.
My computer is a G5 1.8
The monitor is a Viewsonic VG800B (18 in. $412)
The connection listed is a 15-pin mini D-sub
I'm not sure exactly what that is.
Oh, and any general comments on Viewsonic monitors are apprecieated.
Thanks.

That is VGA. It should work perfectly with the DVI- VGA converter included with the G5.

I ordered the monitor and it arrived on the truck today. The package looked like it had survived a game of catch. There's a scratch/burn on the base, and no cables of any sort, documents, discs are included. It was ordered through ClubMac. I talked to thte customer service guy and he's talking with his manager.
What kind of course of action should I accept?
Any ideas about my options? There are no more open box monitors in stock. I don't think I should accept a damaged monitor even if they send the cables and literature.
Any advice would be apprecieated if someone has been in this spot.

you got a cheap open box monitor. go to the store and get a cable and you'll be fine. you don't need a manual for a display.

Doesn't "open box" mean that it could be missing things like manuals, cables, software and that it could have cosmetic problems? ie. the box was opened by someone and the monitor could have been used once or twice.
