This is a cry for help......I have a G4 desktop machine operating on 10.3 OS X panther software. I have a built in superdrive (Pioneer -106). When I try and burn a dvd using Toast 6 Titanium I recieve an error type -108 (low memory). I have over 1gb of built in memory so I suspect that this is not the issue. To date my attempts to find the problem have failed. I have booted with a norton utility disk and ran the diagnostics (disk doctor, speeddisk, antivirus) which did find some partition (catalogue b tree) issue which it seems to have repaired. This did not solve the -108 error problem. I then reinstalled panther...again no joy. I ran disk utility and still no luck...I am begining to think that my superdrive is doomed for the bin...
So as you can see i am at the end of my wits....so any assitance, suggestions of a fix would be greatly appreciated
thanks in advance

Hi,
Have you try to upgrade your Pioneer DVD firmware, may be it help, but before that make sure you know how to do it.
Thanks

Sounds like SengCha has the right idea, try updating your firmware.

I went to Pioneers firmware page and the firmware I on my system is upto date...I was able to burn dvds no problem all along this issue arose last week....I am still able to burn CDs on the drive which makes it more confusing again and I have also illiminated the possiblity of the problem being media related...
Any other suggestions would be appreciated....

Just because you have 1 gig free space doesn't mean anything. You should have at least 4.7 gig free on your hard drive because the program loads the file into memory then burns it. At least thats my experience. Everytime I try to burn with less space on the drive than the file i'm trying to burn, i get an error like that. Then I go and free up some space and it always works. Remember, 1 gig isn't anything when youre talking DVD's. I hope this helps.......edit. maybe I got caught up in my own problems. You said low memory? Hmm.. I don't know then. But try what i said anyways and see if it works. I just realized now you were talking about "memory" as opposed to "storage"....haha
