Hi,

Just tried to read a couple of dvd-r's in the dvd-ram drive of my G4 450, and it keeps spitting them back out. Can this drive not read dvd-r's does anyone know.

Surprised, as I figured it should.

Cheers,

J.

A G4 450 is no QuickSilver!! It's a Sawtooth or a Digital Audio G4.

In any case, those DVD-RAM drives predate DVD-R by quite a bit, so it's quite possible they just can't read those discs.

I am using a 400MHz G4 that can NOT read dvd-r . Run System Profiler and it will tell you the brand name and model of your drive. I have an Hitachi DVD-ROM GD-3000 on the ATA bus. It can not read dvds burned in my spouse's G4 laptop.

Oops, brainfart. Sorry, I meant to write Sawtooth, not sure what happened there.

Well, looks like the drive won't read dvd-r's, so that solves my query. Thanks for the replies.
