I recently downloaded an AVI file. It took forever to download. Now when I try to open it, I'm told it has a damaged header. Can this be fixed, or am I sunk?

The only way to fix it is drag it into the trash and download it again.

Well...turns out I didn't have to delete it after all. However, I ran into another problem. I'm told that the video track can't play, because the "required compressor couldn't be found." I'm already using the most recent version of quicktime, and don't understand what the problem is. Any suggestions?

Is this AVI file in DivX format by any chance? Try downloading a DivX codec from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/

I'd like to remind everyone to please not label threads "Help please". A title should concisely convey the gist of the message, so that people who have the answer can quickly identify threads, and those who know they don't have the answer can just ignore it.
