Hey there Batman!!

Yep, I've been around for a few days. Still trying to get the hang of everything, and see where I can be of help.

Look forward to seeing you around.

Thanks. As you can tell from my post count, I've not really come here in the past...or rather, I've not really posted very much in the past.

However...given the way the Apple Discussons are going, I may be hanging out here a lot more.

We'll see.

I can't say I blame you. I haven't posted over there since they changed the format.

Do I know you discotronic? What was your name over at Apple, if you don't mind my asking?

Gee...no fair...I was going to ask the same thing.

Anyway...on "As The Apple Turns", EE received yet another 2nd warning for bringing up certain memories of Austin to...Austin. He's pissed and basically gonna give the forum a pass.

Me...I'm still gonna pop in for a few minutes a day for the next little while to see if there's any immediate help that I can provide, and then get out. Any longer and I tend to get relaxed and personable...which is just asking for being banned again. (I got two second warnings a couple of weeks ago so I'm on the knifes edge.

Shame...it was a nice place to hang out.

I agree 100%... I used to love that place, but it's just not the same, and I'm tired of not being able to be "human" with people.

And, yeah, I saw the Austin thread... interesting because when I was an actual "Helper" I used to always give that kid a hard time ( ), and I never got in trouble for it.... but it's pretty apparent that they are now playing by different rules. I guess this is the kind of mess they should've expected when they've allowed certain things to pass for so long, which are now getting people in trouble.

You should tell EE to come over here ( ), this forum is definitely more up his alley, and I'd hate to miss out on his great humor!!

PS. I'm loving these smilies!

I used the name discotronic for a little while and then changed it to MJ Sanson. I only posted about 150 times. I mostly just read the posts. I quit doing posts when they changed the setup a few months back and I also didn't like the fact that the threads concerning the iBook logic board issues where getting deleted.

One of my first posts was deleted and it pissed me off. I was looking for advice about my iMac 17" 1GHz. I bought it less than 10 days before the new 1.25GHz model was released. All I wanted where some opinions about doing the upgrade. It was going to cost me the 10% restocking fee and I wanted to be sure it would be worth the money for the upgrade. One person had a chance to respond before it was deleted.

I did the upgrade but I feel I got screwed in the process. I took my iMac in to the Apple Store. It had a 512MB RAM upgrade which I bought from Apple the same time as the iMac but installed myself. They took it out and asked if I wanted them to install it in the new iMac. I didn't want to pay them $40 for something I could do myself. So, they gave it back to me and exchanged my iMac with a new one. I paid the restock fee and went home. I guess I didn't do enough research because the RAM from the 1GHz isn't compatible with the 1.25GHz. You would have thought that the person at the Apple Store would have told me this. I went back to the AS and spoke to the manager. He felt my pain and deceided to sell me the RAM upgrade for $100 which they were selling for $300. They couldn't give me a refund on the old RAM unless it was installed by them. I got lucky and sold the old RAM for $100 on eBay.

The point of this story: That was my first new Mac ever. Every Mac I had owned up to that point was used and bought from a 3rd party. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I probably wouldn't have done the upgrade if I could have gotten some feedback on my question that was deleted. Not long after that I found this place. Sometimes this place can get a little heated but....at least the post would not have been deleted if it was posted here.

Sorry to go on a rant. I should have done more research before making my decision but Apple sure didn't help. WOW!! I feel better

Hey...I think I remember that thread...or at least parts of it. I think I even remeber some of your posts being deleted, but they've been doing that to so many lately, they all tend to blur together so one can't be sure.

Sorry that you had such a bad time, but glad that you landed on you feet somewhere else and not curled up with a DELL. (It wold have turned out to be one of those, "I'd obviously had too much to drink the night before because...." stories.)
