ok, so I have 3 512mb sticks of RAM leftover from a G4 dual 1.25. Can I use these on a PC if I find a motherboard that accepts them?

I don't need them; I have a PB... but I don't want these sticks of perfectly good memory collecting dust. I wouldn't mind a cheap home-built PC for a few apps.

yeah, ebay is my next option.

thanks.

Yes.

I am guessing that the RAM is PC 2700 DDR 333. An Athlon64 or new Pentium 4 (800MHz) based system would require faster RAM, but any Athlon XP or Pentium 4 with a 400MHz or 533MHz Front Side Bus should work fine with the RAM.

hey SSharon,

I'd actually consider selling them if I can recoup a decent amount. I bought the memory from the Chip Merchant in august or september of last year, used it in a G4 tower for 6 months or so.

I paid $279. Currently the Chip Merchant has the same kit going for close to $350 (http://www.thechipmerchant.com/15915-1.html). Go figure.

$265 + shipping costs & it's a deal. I'm not going to ask for more than I paid for it. There's a lifetime warranty on the memory, if that matters.

-----------------
edit: altered my asking price slightly after reading the comment below & looking up prices elsewhere. I initially said $250. This is still a great deal if you shop around. RAM apparently gets pricier over time?

Its not a bad price for the kit but I probably should have mentioned that I don't have 3 free slots and that I don't need all of it. I was thinking you put 1gb in the PC since all I need is 512. I guess I should wait until after I buy myself a laptop before putting more in my desktop. Pricewatch is showing 89 dollars for corsair (512mb) and 90 dollars for kingston, thirty dollars more than the generic ram they list. Anyway, I have to get back to my finals, good luck with the PC building.
