Ok, I've had my dual G4 Quicksilver now for getting close to three years. I am actually not really wanting for speed after all this time. Still...it is time to upgrade and I am anxiously awaiting WWDC and the almost certain upgraded Power Mac G5's to be announced.

At last year's WWDC and on 4-5 other public occasions, Jobs promised 3GHz "in a year" - indicating that around the August timeframe this year, we would see 3GHz (presumably dual) G5's. I have seen reports that IBM has fabbed 2.5GHz PowerPC 970's, but no reports whatsoever of 3GHz fabs. And there is still a big bottleneck on yields that's affecting Xserve G5 delivery.

So what will it be at WWDC? 2.5GHz dual G5's at the top with 3GHz units maybe in January? I feel quite an impulse to jump on whatever comes at WWDC, but was really hoping we'd see 3GHz units. I feel this is quite unlikely at present, however.

What are you thoughts, people? Let's get a good discussion going here.

WWDC is in around 5 weeks folks (June 28).
