So I was rearranging the cables underneathe my imac and noticed, through the glass desk a green led inside the imac. It appears to be soldered to the MoBo but I've never noticed this before.

So does anyone know what this is?

It could either be the power light or simply an internal "power" light.. a simple diagnostic light sometimes used to make sure that the machine's motherboard is ok.

Apple has power lights on the motherboards of all desktop Macs that are noiseless when sleeping: since you may not be looking at the front panel when working on the innards, they added a light on the board so you don't fry it by hot-plugging things like RAM.
