Apple is really starting to become a tremendous pain in the ass.

After millions of dollars in advertising...I still can't get a proper Applecare disc from them. TechTools Deluxe 3.0.3 still does not boot from the disc. In addition, tech geeks at second level are informing me that TechTools Deluxe is a waste as it only fixes one or two other minor issues that Disk Utilities can't. So why even bother using that as a selling point?

Also, software developers only recently came out with disks bootable for G5 and the newer machines. Alsoft, DiskWarrior, and Symantec, Norton (which has a better breakdown of what the issue with their software was and what machines the new disc will operate on), have bootable discs which you have to purchase separately. Micromat, TechTools, is still behind in the game and offers no information as to what machines the disc will operate on.

So after my first issue and having to lose some valuable data, I still can't get anywhere with apple. Anyone experiencing similar problems? And what are you using in terms of third party utilities for your hardware upkeep needs?

thanks

Sam

PS - Sorry for the rant and yes I'm new.

Hi, and welcome

What software to recommend kind of depends on what problems have you been having... Can you tell us more?

As for Applecare, Techtools since OS X is next to hope less, and Applecare is only bought for the extended warranty, not the software.

For general stuff, the best software I have found is Disk Warrior. I would not touch Norton under any circumstances.
