I added a lite-on internal dvd+/-rw to my MDD, and I'm having a couple of issues.

First, the tray for the DVD burner is blocked when opening by the front of the computer case -- what's the best way to get around this?

Second, when the drive was installed, OSX (10.3.4) recognized it as a SuperDrive, but when I went into System Profiler, it recognized it but said that burning was Not Supported.

Is that just because it's not a Pioneer or some other specific hardware the Apple does not natively recognize? I couldn't test it to see if it would burn because I couldn't get the drive to open. I was told somewhere that OSX would support most DVD burners.

If anyone can give me more information on this, I'd appreciate it.

thanks-

First remove the front bezel attachment, it is just clipped on the tray. If you notice the original drive that came with your mdd, it doesn't have the bezel tray attachment.

Secondly, if you want iTunes, Finder burning (might) and iDVD (with some hacking) use Patchburn II to add support. Or just use Toast.

Hope that helps (and make sure the drive is connected as cable select).

Beautiful, that worked, and I'm now testing a burn. Thanks!
