So I woke this morning and the room was silent, the familiar sound of the fans from my Dual 533 G4 were missing. An sense of horror filled me and was soon confirmed when I tried the power button on the Mac and nothing happened.

The power button lights up when you press it but that's all.

Does anyone know where to start looking to fix a hardware problem like this? Is it something to do with the motherboard or the PSU? I took out all the third party stuff but still not a peep, not a whirr, not a click.

I'm feeling pretty miserable right now, anyone have any advice?

Thanks!
If it rained soup I'd have a fork in my hand!

O.k folks, it's now working,

Thanks to MacNStein who posted a previous fix (pressing the PMU reset button on the motherboard) for someone else with the same issue.

See? That's what I love about Macs, if this were a problem with a PC I just don't know where I'd even have to go to find someone with the same piece of kit let alone someone willing to help me!

Macs Rock,

Mac People Rock,

Thanks!
