I was thinking about getting the dual 1.8GHz machines, the new ones. Should I wait till the conference in hopes that it will drop anymore, or just buy now and hope they don't introduce anything new at the conference that will lower the prices more?

There won't be any newer PowerMacs announced at the conference. If you want a PowerMac, BUY NOW. Look for the best deal and get it.

After waiting 3-4 months, I've sent in my order for a PowerMac G5 dual 2.5.

Apple has never, never dropped prices on a machine that quickly. The only thing you might see at WWDC is something that you'd rather have than a Power Mac.

When Apple introduced the Cube in July 2000, they did drop the price $300 after several months to spur sales, but I can't remember exactly when that was. Maybe November? That's the fastest I can remember Apple changing a price.

And that was only because the Cube was woefully overpriced originally.

If there is one lesson that should be learned with the most recent refresh of the PowerMac line, it does not pay to wait. If it took a year to come up with the current line-up, you surely are not going to gain anything by waiting a couple of weeks, unless like Bruno states, something other than a PowerMac.

Repeat after me:

I will not wait
I will not wait
I will not wait....
Cheers,

Just say "NO" to PLASTIC SPEAKERS!!

So you think that after releasing the 2.5 with a deliverly date of July that apple will release a new machine three weeks later?

Just buy the PM now and enjoy it.
