I'd like to upgrade my RAM from the stock 512mb, and I have a question. The 256mb sticks are cheap, is there an advantage to 2 512 sticks over 4 256mb sticks? Thanks.

It should be fine. The only difference I can think of is that the latencies might be different on different chip sizes, but I'll bet they'd be slower with larger chips. Not at all sure about that though. I tend to go for large chips in case I want to upgrade later.
