Well, I did it.

After months of waiting and "mulling" things over trying to decide if needed a G5 or not I pulled the trigger on this baby. I opted for the new 2.0, at my local Apple store. They didn't discount the old 2.0. I wanted that but new is better I suppose. Instant gratification ruled and I did not want to wait for a BTO with the ati video card.

I'll let this baby run and burn in over night make sure there's no problems.

Much faster then my PB

I too bought one of the new 2.0 Ghz PMs.
I needed a machine now & I didn't want to wait until August to get a 2.5.

Its a lot quicker then my PB , and I'm really enjoying it. As my other thread mentions, some of the fans cycle up and down when I put a 100% load on the cpu via the command level setiathome app.

Apple was selling brand new "old" 2GHz models for $2499 online. Refurbs are only $1999. I think the video card is better on the old 2Ghz models, but I'm not sure.

I too just purchased a Rev B DP 2.0 G5. It should be an awesome upgrade from my venerable 8600/300 and iBook 466 (which will probably still serve as my primary machine). Now, I'm wondering what everyone thinks about my choice of standard (free) shipping from the Apple Store (online). Is it an imprudent choice to go the ground route, or should things be fine?

Welcome, and I'm sure you will be pleased also. For me, I'm one of those instant gratifcation type of people so I couldn't wait for them to ship it, in the past I picked air over free ground. This time I went drove to New Hampshire to purchase it a apple store thus avoiding the sales tax
